National Reconciliation Week events

Find out what events are taking place in your local area to celebrate National Reconciliation Week between 27 May – 3 June 2018.

National Reconciliation Week commemorates two milestones: the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision.

It is a time for us all to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

“Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”

For inspiration for teaching, learning about, and celebrating National Reconciliation Week, you can download the Teaching and Learning Resources here:

Below is a list of events happening around Queensland and Northern New South Wales, to celebrate our Indigenous heritage and culture. The campaign for this year is “Don’t keep history a mystery: Learn. Share. Grow.” and it’s all about uncovering lesser known historical facts and achievements.

So why not go along to your nearest community event and learn something new this National Reconciliation Week?
