Open Minds was founded in 1912, which makes it eligible for this grant.

Mike Gilmour, Chair of Open Minds is thrilled with the surprise contribution from the Bank. He said “such a generous donation will allow us to continue our work in supporting our clients to live a life of choice, fulfilment and participation – put simply this money will make life easier for our clients”.

This celebration of fellow 100-year organisations is part of the Bank’s Centenary Staff Giving Back initiative. Staff Giving Back enabled Commonwealth Bank staff to make suggestions on how they thought the Bank could make a difference to the lives of Australians.

Commonwealth Bank CEO, Ian Narev, said, “The Centenary Staff Giving Back program is an important initiative because it enabled our staff to put forward ideas that they believe will have an impact on communities in which they live. This idea immediately stood out as it provides an opportunity to congratulate these very worthy, and yet also humble, community organisations in reaching this remarkable milestone.”

Open Minds’ local Commonwealth Bank Area Manager Mr Sean McDonald visited the Chester Road residence with the marketing team on Wednesday 14 March and was amazed to see firsthand the dedicated work of Open Minds staff and meet some of the very valuable clients.

Open Minds is grateful for this generous donation and we look forward to building a great new partnership with Commonwealth Bank!

Happy 100th Birthday!
<div
