You and NDIS

Open Minds will support and guide you along your NDIS journey

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) commenced in Queensland on 1 July 2016, and Open Minds has been busy implementing our 4 stage readiness project.  The NDIS ensures that people living with a disability are given every opportunity to make their own informed decisions to exercise choice and control, and connect with the community.  The NDIS will allow eligible people to receive supports that are reasonable and necessary to reach their goals and we can support you to achieve your NDIS goals and aspirations.

What is means for our Customers
Open Minds will support and guide you along your NDIS journey.  The NDIS will provide a range of funded supports along with information, referrals and linkages to ensure individuals with disability, their families and carers are able to access the right supports at home and in the community.  If you are not quite sure what exactly it is that you are looking for, Open Minds have introduced skilled Service Planners to assist you in choosing the right services and supports for you.

What it means for Open Minds
For Open Minds, this means building upon our person-centred services and adapting the services and supports we offer to better meet the needs of the people we serve.

Our Commitment
Open Minds is committed to provide person-centred, flexible, responsive, high quality, innovative and individually tailored options so you can lead the life you want to with your NDIS funds.  Open Minds will support all clients, both new and existing, to find their way through the wide range of services and supports now available for NDIS participants with funding packages.   This includes:

  • Coming or staying on board – everything you need to get started
  • Turning your Plan into action – Making your NDIS Plan work for you
  • Your Future, Your Way – Individually tailored service and support coordination
  • Your Anniversary- Reflect, refresh and review your Plan together

NDIS Readiness
Various Participant Readiness activities have been set up for the NDIS.  These include workshops, meetings, forums, online resources, home visits, coaching and mentoring, to ensure that people living with a disability, their families and carers can learn more about the NDIS and be ready for changes that may occur.  Open Minds is able to let you know what is happening locally, to help you find the best supports.
